Priorities

Smart Growth & Responsible Data Center Policy

  • Establish clear, data-driven standards for data center proposals

  • Ensure infrastructure costs are not passed on to residents

  • Protect water, power, and environmental resources

  • Require transparency, community input, and long-term impact analysis

  • Align growth decisions with Warrenton’s Comprehensive Plan

Warrenton can grow without losing what makes it special. Data centers and large-scale development must be evaluated carefully, using facts to guide decisions. By setting clear expectations upfront, the town can protect its infrastructure, environment, and taxpayers while ensuring any growth truly benefits residents. Responsible planning today prevents costly consequences tomorrow.

Transparency, Access & Community Engagement

  • Public bi-monthly office hours

  • Monthly meetings with community leaders (churches, business owners, etc.)

  • Present community report to Town Council at monthly public meetings

Good leadership starts with listening. Regular office hours and consistent communication with community leaders ensure residents feel heard and informed. Transparency builds trust, strengthens decision-making, and keeps local government grounded in real community needs.

Economic & Downtown Vitality

  • Move the farmers market back downtown

  • Improve lighting in public lots

  • Community garden downtown

Downtown Warrenton thrives when people gather, shop, and linger. Returning the farmers market downtown supports small businesses and increases foot traffic. Strategic infrastructure improvements like lighting and shared community spaces enhance safety and encourage economic activity, making downtown a destination rather than a pass-through.

Public Safety & Community Wellbeing

  • Portion of parking ticket revenue allocated to criminal justice scholarships for high school students

  • Blue emergency call lights

  • Park and public space security cameras

Visible safety infrastructure deters crime and provides peace of mind for residents and visitors. Blue emergency lights and cameras are proven, cost-effective tools for prevention. Directing a portion of parking revenue into scholarships supports future public safety professionals and reinvests town dollars back into the community in a meaningful, forward-looking way.

Public Spaces, Parks & Recreation

  • Re-establish an enterprise fund for the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility (WARF) via a nonprofit managed by Warrenton's Parks & Rec Board

  • Bathrooms at the Greenway entrance

  • Splash pad at Eva Walker Park

Investing in parks and recreation improves quality of life, promotes public health, and strengthens community pride. Creating a dedicated nonprofit for the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility (WARF) allows for sustainable fundraising without burdening taxpayers. Enhancements like lighting, restrooms, cameras, and inclusive amenities ensure parks are safe, welcoming, and fully utilized year-round.

Housing Stability & Social Services

  • Create Economic and Housing Development Board

  • Continue funding nonprofits

Data shows communities that underfunded social services experience higher rates of theft, trespassing, and emergency calls. Supporting nonprofits and creating a collaborative housing and economic development board helps address root causes—housing instability, workforce challenges, and access to services—before they become public safety issues.
